BYU Stays Perfect with 37-24 Win Over UCF, Pulls Off Outrageous Fake Field Goal

BYU kept its undefeated season intact with a solid 37-24 road win over UCF on Saturday, and it was a special teams play that stole the show.

Leading 7-0 in the first quarter, the Cougars lined up for a 46-yard field goal attempt. But instead of taking the kick, they pulled off a perfectly executed fake.

Holder Sam Vander Haar flipped the ball between his legs—without looking—to kicker Will Ferrin, who bolted around the edge to pick up the first down.

It was a slick bit of trickery that caught UCF off guard and kept BYU’s drive alive.

However, the Cougars couldn’t find the end zone after the trick play. Ferrin still ended up booting a field goal from 5 yards closer, extending BYU’s lead to 10-0.

Despite this missed opportunity, BYU maintained control throughout the game, earning a 37-24 win over the Knights. Many had predicted this would be a potential letdown for the No. 11 Cougars, but they delivered once again, improving to 8-0 on the season.

With each win, BYU’s postseason dreams grow a little brighter, and they’re proving they can get it done in all phases of the game—even with some Halloween-esque trickery.
