WATCH: Michigan vs. Michigan State Ends in Chaos After Wolverines Secure 24-17 Victory

The heated rivalry between Michigan and Michigan State took a wild turn on Saturday, ending in a brawl at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor.

The Wolverines led 24-17 and were looking to close out the game.

With just over a minute remaining and facing 3rd-and-5 at their own 44-yard line, Michigan quarterback Alex Orji sealed the win with an 8-yard run.

Michigan then set up for a kneel-down to run out the clock, but that’s when things got messy.

Wolverines tight end Colston Loveland and Spartans defensive end Anthony Jones exchanged shoves after the snap, and Loveland escalated things with a headbutt. Jones retaliated by grabbing Loveland’s helmet, sparking a full-on melee as players from both sides stormed the field.

Referees struggled to restore order as chaos unfolded in front of the Michigan crowd. Both sidelines emptied onto the field before officials finally separated the teams and allowed the game to officially end.

Aside from the late-game fireworks, Michigan continued its recent dominance in the rivalry, claiming its third straight win over Michigan State and fifth in the last seven matchups. The Wolverines now lead the all-time series 74-38-5.

The Spartans squandered a prime opportunity late in the game. Down 24-17 with 3:02 remaining, Michigan State had 1st-and-10 at Michigan’s 21-yard line but couldn’t convert, eventually turning the ball over on downs.

The chaos overshadowed an otherwise intense rivalry game, but Michigan came out on top again, continuing its grip over the Spartans in recent years.
