Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla wants to bring back fighting in the NBA

The more I see and hear from him, the more I like Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla.

When speaking with NBC Sports Boston this past week, he proposed a few rule changes to spice up the gameday experience for fans. Everyone knows regular season NBA basketball is pointless, so why not try and heighten the excitement.

Joe Mazzulla thinks the NBA should bring back fighting

“The biggest thing that we rob people of, from an entertainment standpoint, is you can’t fight any more. I wish you could bring back fighting… I just don’t get why some sports are allowed to clear the benches… We just have a ball. The other sport has one of the hardest surfaces and playing instrument in pucks and sticks and we’re not allowed to throw down a little bit?”

Can’t help but respect this take.

Every sports fan secretly wishes players could duke it out between plays — I’m sure there are plenty of professional players who think the same. In the heat of the moment, sometimes violence is the answer. It’s just men being men. Stop pussifying sports, let the men handle business the old fashioned way.

We used to pit gladiators against hungry lions and watch for fun. Now we can’t even have a little rough housing between competitors? What’s up with that?

Complete bogus in my opinion, and it seems like Joe Mazzulla feels the same way.
