Trust The Process: Joel Embiid knee recovery details emerge pending his return to action for the Sixers

Today has been quite the eventful day in regards to the Sixers and Joel Embiid more specifically. And in the usual fashion, it has pretty much nothing to do with the on court basketball product, but rather the typical drama that exists off the court. Whether it’s Ben Simmons quitting on the team, Embiid’s very unfortunate injury history, or even James Harden calling the GM a liar. We’ve been through it all as fans here in Philadelphia.

Which leads me to this point I need to get off my chest. Would you all please just take a deep breath and do what we have been doing for the last decade. Which is plain and simple; trust the *bleeping process.

I know you are all frustrated with how this situation with his knee has been handled and is currently playing out. I too am getting a little restless about it. But, sometimes in moments like this you just need to take a step back and analyze the big picture. Which is having not only a fully healthy Joel Embiid for the playoffs, but a healthy squad ready to roll once April is here.

Joel Embiid injury update

While the messaging has been quite unclear these last few weeks in regards to Embiid’s knee and his health management plan, I don’t really understand all the outrage. This team’s best shot at a championship is with a fully healthy Joel Embiid. And for all the people who think we need to blow this thing up I have a message for you: Stop being a coward and grow a pair of balls.

That alternative scenario that you think is a good idea, isn’t actually a good one. If Daryl Morey were to trade away Joel for the best possible package, this team and franchise will be mediocre at best for another 10 years like they were in between the Allen Iverson era to now.

Joel Embiid has been sidelined for the Sixers’ first four games of the season, listed as out for “left knee injury management.” Without him, we obviously dropped three out of those four matchups, falling 124-109 to the Bucks, 115-107 to the Raptors, and 105-95 to the Pistons. The lone victory came in a hard-fought 118-114 overtime win against the Pacers. On Friday, Embiid finally had enough of the criticism surrounding his absence and fired back, addressing the speculation that he’s unwilling to play.

There is some light at the end of the tunnel here as both Joel Embiid and Paul George were full participants in Friday’s practice, signaling that they might be gearing up for a return. Although Embiid is officially out for Saturday’s game, there’s a decent shot he’ll be back in action during Philly’s road swing, where they’ll face the Suns, Clippers, and Lakers.
