WATCH: Denver Broncos channel their inner-Eagles with a “Philly Special” in Baltimore
Down in Baltimore, we just saw the Denver Broncos dig deep into their playbook and pull out a little something we in Philly know all too well—the infamous “Philly Special.”
Trailing the Ravens 10-0 in the second quarter and staring down a 4th-and-goal, the Broncos decided to shake things up. Instead of playing it safe, they broke out the trick play that sent Philly into football folklore back in Super Bowl LII.
And just like that, the Broncos were back in the game, pulling within three points of the Ravens.

Side Note: I don’t really appreciate the Denver Broncos X account not calling the play what it literally was and instead trying to rebrand it as a Halloween-themed Trick or Treat surprise. Everyone knows it’s the Philly Special, “@ the Eagles next time.”
The original “Philly Special,” of course, was the brainchild of Nick Foles. It’s the play that helped the Eagles take down the Patriots in a 41-33 Super Bowl thriller. Foles caught a touchdown pass, and the rest, as they say, is history. It’s a play etched into the hearts of Eagles fans forever.
The Original “Philly Special”
Seeing the Broncos dust it off was a nice nod to the magic of that moment. It’s proof that the “Philly Special” isn’t just a one-time trick (get it)—it’s a nod to Nick Foles and the Philadelphia Eagles. While many other teams attempt to make it a staple in looking to catch their opponents off guard, nothing will ever top the original.
As for the Broncos, they’re hoping this bit of Eagles-inspired magic can spark something big in Baltimore.
