Rats: Keith Pompey calls Embiid’s shove on Marcus Hayes ‘assault;’ says Embiid ‘punched’ Hayes in since delete Tweet
The rats from the Philadelphia Inquirer, Keith Pompey and Marcus Hayes, have been working around the clock since last night’s incident involving Joel Embiid.
A quick recap on everything that led up to the confrontation:
- Hayes wrote a column bashing Embiid for not playing this season and brought up his son and dead brother to try and validate his point.
- Embiid calls out the media during a press conference this week
- Embiid confronts Hayes following Saturday’s loss to Memphis and reportedly shoved the beat reporter
Hayes’ fellow Inky rat, Keith Pompey, was the first one to Tweet about the incident, calling Embiid’s shove “assault.”
Keith Pompey exaggerating, per usual

People were obviously shocked by this Tweet and wanted answers. Plenty of people responded to ask exactly what happened between Embiid and the unnamed reporter, to which Pompey replied, “He punched him.” Pompey has since deleted this Tweet because it was a lie. Classic.
After scrubbing this Tweet from his timeline, Keith Pompey then tried to course correct with this Tweet. For some reason, he quoted ‘shoved’ like it wasn’t actually a shove? In any case, Rat Pompey turned off replies to this to avoid any further backlash.
It’s unbelievable that the two worst reporters in this city both work for the Inquirer and cover the same team. What are the chances.
Both Hayes and Pompey should never be allowed in the Sixers locker room again. I’m sure Hayes is too scared anyway. To be fair, I wouldn’t want to go back either if a 7-foot-2 Cameroonian wanted me dead.
These guys are just awful at their jobs and are actively undermining the franchise they cover. It’s journalistic malpractice and it makes me sick.
