Paul George expected to make his 76ers debut against Phoenix Suns on Monday

The Philadelphia 76ers received their first good news of the season.

Paul George is expected to make his 76ers debut on Monday against the Phoenix Suns, barring any setbacks.

He’s officially listed as questionable for Monday’s 10:15 p.m. EST tip-off with a left knee bone bruise.

How did Paul George get injured?

George suffered a bone bruise in his left knee during Philadelphia’s preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks where his knee hyperextended while defending Jalen Johnson.

The nine-time all-star played in only two preseason contests and was forced to miss the 76ers’ first five games of the regular season.

George recorded a promising 23 points and 6 rebounds in his preseason debut against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

How Paul George’s return will impact the 76ers

Sitting at 1-4 on the season, the 76ers will need more of that as they try to stay afloat amid Joel Embiid’s absence.

Tyrese Maxey has had to carry the entire offensive load – averaging 29.8 points per game and 4.8 assists per game as the 76ers rank 27th in the NBA in offensive rating at 107.2.

Having George back in the mix will improve Philadelphia’s offense almost instantly with his talents as a three-level scorer and capabilities as a secondary ball-handler.

The 76ers are kicking off a three-game west coast road trip this week – including games against the Suns (5-1), Los Angeles Clippers (2-4), and Los Angeles Lakers (4-2).

With a potential starting lineup of Tyrese Maxey, Kelly Oubre Jr, Paul George, Caleb Martin, and Andre Drummond, Philadelphia will be better suited against some of the Western Conference’s finest.
