Philadelphia Portal gets relocated from LOVE Park to Visitor Center
The Philadelphia Portal that connects the City of Brotherly Love to cities around the world, has quickly made a splash. But beyond international greetings, the portal has seen some colorful moments that have sparked local buzz.
Less than three weeks after its arrival in LOVE Park, the portal’s popularity isn’t solely due to its global connections; it has also attracted some unexpected characters, like the notorious OnlyFans model, Ava Louise.
The Philadelphia Portal’s New Spot in LOVE Park
Due to LOVE Park’s upcoming Christmas Village, the portal will be moving slightly within the park.
“We hope that the increase of people in the park will help bring in a new wave of visitors looking to experience the Portal and connect with others across the globe,” shared Joseph Callahan of Portals.org. This move keeps the Philadelphia Portal accessible while making room for one of the city’s most beloved holiday events.
The Philadelphia Portal officially launched on October 22, 2024, with officials and civic leaders gathering to connect Philadelphia with cities like Dublin, Ireland; Vilnius, Lithuania; and Lublin, Poland. As the camera rotates every few minutes to display different cities, the portal offers an engaging way for Philadelphians to interact with people across the globe. This cultural exchange aims to build excitement for the city’s Semiquincentennial celebrations in 2026.

The History and Legacy of Portals Around the World
Originally launched in New York City’s Flatiron Plaza, portals have connected cities worldwide, fostering cultural exchange and a sense of unity. Lithuanian artist Benediktas Gylys created the first portal in 2021, linking Vilnius to Lublin. The concept has since expanded, bringing the world closer while occasionally attracting attention for unconventional reasons.
Despite these lively moments, the Philadelphia Portal stands as a testament to the power of connection, bridging Philly with other parts of the world, one interaction at a time. Positioned in LOVE Park, the portal invites Philadelphians to experience the global stage—whether through a friendly wave or, as Ava Louise has demonstrated, a more provocative greeting.
