Pat McAfee roasts mainstream media for not giving Nick Sirianni any credit for Eagles winning streak

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has been put through the ringer this season.

After a 2-2 start, national and local media alike were calling for his job. “How could you let this talented team go to waste with Sirianni as the coach,” they cried. Fast forward a month and Sirianni’s team may be the best team in the NFL, winning five games in a row with four of them being complete blowouts.

Of course, none of this can be Nick Sirianni‘s doing. He’s had no influence over this team whatsoever — or at least that’s what the national pundits want you to believe.

Pat McAfee poked fun at this notion on Monday’s edition of the Pat McAfee Show.

A few important points here on Sirianni’s tenure in Philadelphia:

  • This is the third straight season Sirianni’s team has had a five-game winning streak. The only other coaches who managed to accomplish that in the same time frame are Andy Reid and Sean McVay.
  • He’s now 41-19 all-time, making him the 9th winningest head coach in NFL history. He ranks ahead of Bill Belichick, Andy Reid, and Paul Brown.
  • For the first time in Eagles history, the team has started 7-2 or better in three consecutive seasons.

Say what you want about Nick Sirianni’s demeanor and how he carries himself on the sidelines, the guy is doing something right. The team feeds off his energy and the wins just keep piling up.

At this rate, Nick Sirianni could go down as the best head coach in Eagles history. Yes, even better than Andy Reid. Part of it has to do with Howie Roseman being his GM; Andy never had a GM on the same level. Nevertheless, what Sirianni has accomplished in four years as the head coach is astounding when you really think about it.

If he reaches another Super Bowl this year, win or lose, he may already be the best head coach in team history. He would have reached the postseason five times, with two NFC Championships under his belt along with two Super Bowl appearances. That’s hard for any head coach, let alone a guy who apparently doesn’t know shit about football.

Forget what the national media has told you, Nick Sirianni is a great head coach.
