Report: Phillies plan to meet with Juan Soto as free agency decision looms
Free agency is here, and the Philadelphia Phillies are looking to spend big to get John Middleton his coveted World Series.
The Phillies will meet with free-agent slugger Juan Soto, per Jon Heyman of the New York Post.
The Phillies haven’t met with Juan Soto yet but they plan to. Not many teams want to win more than them.

Here. We. Go.
It’s no secret John Middleton is willing to back up the Brinks truck to get the players he wants. Even so, Soto’s price tag will likely be the litmus test to see how far Johnny will reach into his pocketbook for premium talent.
Predictions show Soto fetching between 10-14 years and anywhere from $600-700 million for his services. Honestly, it’s fair market value for a 26-year-old who’s one of the best hitters in baseball and has been for years.
Plus, it wouldn’t hurt to have a Nationals reunion with Trea Turner and Bryce Harper. Even with the potential payday, it’ll be hard to pry Soto away from the Yankees.
They have some of the deepest pockets in the league and he just made the World Series, so it’s easy for him to stick with what works. It’ll take a serious offer to get him to jump ship.
But if there’s an owner in MLB crazy enough to make it happen, it’s John Middleton.
