The Quinyon Mitchell Effect: Ravens WR Diontae Johnson refused to enter Week 13’s matchup because he was afraid of getting shutdown
Eagles rookie cornerback Quinyon Mitchell is already striking fear into his opponents. So much so that they’re refusing to even lineup against him.
During Sunday’s game between the Eagles and Ravens, it was hard to overlook the absence of WR Diontae Johnson from Baltimore’s lineup. He was suited up and on the sidelines, but he never entered the game. On Wednesday, we learned that he refused to enter the game, and he’s now been suspended for their next game because of it.
Quinyon Mitchell was in this guy’s head without even lining up against him

This report, along with Baltimore’s press release on the matter, didn’t specify why Johnson refused to play on Sunday. But it’s pretty clear to me. The Quinyon Mitchell Effect is alive and well, and we’re not even through his entire rookie season yet.
It’s amazing how great Mitchell has been as a rookie — it’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen here in Philly. He’s allowed 30 completions on 58 targets (55.6 completion percentage) with a 81.7 passer rating when targeted, while surrendering zero touchdowns.
Shutdown corner in the making right here — I’m not surprised Johnson didn’t want to enter the game.

Settle down. No one fears Mitchell more than other good CBs. Dionte is a diva and headcase. Philly was lucky to win that game and if we face them in the SB our third Lombardi is a sure thing.
