The Battle of Pennsylvania: Eagles open the week as home favorites against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 15

The Philadelphia Eagles opened as 4.5-point home favorites against the Pittsburgh Steelers for their Week 15 clash in The Battle of Pennsylvania.

According to BetMGM, the oddsmakers are favoring the Birds. Barring a tie, either the Eagles will finally beat Russell Wilson for the first time (0-6 lifetime) or the Steelers will win a football game in Philadelphia for the first time since 1965.

Something’s gotta give, right?

The Battle of Pennsylvania is shaping up to be one of the most compelling games of the NFL season. The Birds will enter Week 15 winners of nine-straight games after surviving a “trap game” against the Carolina Panthers while the Pittsburgh Steelers will arrive in South Philly with a 10-3 record and a 6-1 mark since Russell Wilson took over as their starting quarterback.

Pittsburgh’s defense is no joke. They’re allowing the seventh-fewest offensive points per game and are among the league’s best at stopping the run. Only three teams have allowed fewer rushing yards per game this season. That means that the Eagles’ offense, which relies heavily on Saquon Barkley, will face one of its toughest challenges yet.

If Philly’s run game gets bottled up, Jalen Hurts and the passing attack will need to step up. And frankly, it’s been a while since we’ve seen the Eagles’ aerial game click on all cylinders.

Eagles: Time to Break the Streak

Betting against Mike Tomlin as an underdog? Historically, that’s a losing proposition. The Steelers are 5-0 against the spread and straight up as underdogs this season.

The Eagles are looking to bounce back after some recent shaky performances. Beating a team as tough as the Steelers would be a big statement heading into the home stretch of the season.

Again, they’ll have to beat Russell Wilson while also handling business instead of what we all witnessed on Sunday against the Panthers- playing down to the competition and letting a game stay too close for comfort.

The Eagles have the talent to win this game outright, but can they do it comfortably?

That’s where the skepticism creeps in. Wilson has been steady for Pittsburgh, their defense is nasty, and Tomlin’s underdog magic looms large. However, there’s absolutely zero chance that I would take the Steelers over the Eagles.
