For whatever reason, Nick Young picked a fight with Guerschon Yabusele on Twitter as Sixers crumble in the Bay
Nick Young, the self-proclaimed Swaggy P, decided to kick off 2025 by throwing digital haymakers at Guerschon Yabusele. Why? Who knows. Maybe it was a bad night gambling and our beloved, thicc as they come, Frenchman missed in cashing in on prop bet?
I’m confused. I will probably roll with Nick Young just looking for a reason to remind the world he exists outside of a few classic memes. Whatever the case, his Twitter fingers were out in full force, calling Yabusele “first team brown bag” in a dig that feels like it came straight out of 2012.
Nick Young talking trash about Guerschon Yabusele…?
Philly deserves to lose for picking up this big Eddie curry lookin France Ni*** … for sure found him in front of a liquor store … first team brown bag

And yet, of all the nights to come for Yabusele, this was an odd one to pick. Sure, the Sixers collectively stunk up the joint, suffering a 139-105 beatdown courtesy of the Golden State Warriors. But if there was one—one—bright spot for Philly in this travesty, it was Guerschon Yabusele.
The Lone Bright Spot in San Francisco
The Sixers decided they’d had enough of competitive basketball by the time they hit the West Coast. Their defense was nonexistent, their transition play was laughable, and their collective effort could generously be described as “half-hearted.”
And yet, through all the chaos, Guerschon Yabusele showed up. While the rest of the team looked like they’d rather be anywhere else, Yabusele brought his trademark hustle and energy. He made smart cuts, battled on the boards, and generally looked like he cared—a rarity for a Sixers squad that seemed checked out before tip-off.
Yabusele finished the night with 13 points and six rebounds in just 11 minutes of action, providing the only moments worth remembering in an otherwise forgettable performance.
Nick Young’s Cry for Attention
Nick Young’s criticism feels less like an actual evaluation of Yabusele’s game and more like a cry for attention. Let’s not forget, this is the same guy who famously celebrated a missed three-pointer mid-shot.
Calling Yabusele “first team brown bag” is objectively funny, but it’s also wildly unfair. This is a guy who clawed his way back to the NBA after being cast off, dominated on the international stage, and has become a solid rotational piece for the Sixers.
Maybe Swaggy P missed the Olympics, where Yabusele was a key part of a French squad that beat Team USA in pool play and pushed them to the brink in the gold medal game. Maybe he missed the highlights of Yabusele dunking NBA elites into oblivion during his EuroLeague days.

Either way, Nick Young probably shouldn’t be throwing stones. After all, this is the same dude who Kobe Bryant once said was part of the reason the Lakers wouldn’t win anything.
Where’s the Brotherly Love?
It’s painful to see this kind of slander from a former Sixer, even one as brief and forgettable as Nick Young. Philadelphia fans are used to infighting, but this feels unnecessary. If anything, Yabusele’s effort last night deserves praise, not mockery.
The Sixers needed someone—anyone—to show some pride in the Bay, and Yabusele answered the call. His smart play and hustle were the lone silver lining in a game that saw Stephen Curry put on a historically efficient performance, going 8-for-8 from deep en route to 30 points and 10 assists.
While Swaggy P continues to live off his meme-worthy past, Yabusele is grinding in the present, carving out a role and making the most of his opportunities.
For Sixers fans, let’s not let Nick Young’s nonsense distract from the bigger picture: Guerschon Yabusele is one of the few players on this roster giving maximum effort night in and night out. The guy deserves your respect—and maybe a little less heat from washed-up ex-players.
And hey, if this beef gets Yabusele fired up to keep proving the doubters wrong? Even better. Keep hustling, Yabu. Philly sees you.
