The Gift That Keeps on Giving: John Mara is bringing back Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen
The New York Giants just locked in head coach Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen for another year, and honestly, it’s hard to believe.

After a 3-14 disaster of a season, capped off by cutting their “franchise quarterback” Daniel Jones mid-year and watching Saquon Barkley dominate for their biggest division rival, the decision to bring back anyone involved with this train-wreck screams organizational malpractice.
But hey, as a Birds fan, I’m all for it. Keep the dysfunction alive, ya know?
Saquon Barkley: The One That Got Away
Letting Saquon Barkley walk was bad enough. Watching him stay in the NFC East and join the Philadelphia Eagles was straight-up humiliating. It make matters worse, Barkley went on to have one of the greatest seasons ever by a running back, surpassing 2,000 yards on the ground and becoming the centerpiece of the playoff-bound Eagles’ offense.
This wasn’t just a good season—it was historic. Barkley ran through defenses like they were paper mâché, and the Giants had to sit there and watch as their former superstar shredded them twice a year. Letting Saquon walk was a colossal blunder, and it’ll be a black mark on this front office for years.
John Mara is asked how long it will take for the Giants to improve:

The Daniel Jones Disaster
The Giants didn’t just lose Barkley; they also imploded their quarterback situation. After overpaying Daniel Jones in the offseason, they cut bait mid-year, admitting what everyone else already knew—he was never the guy.
The decision to double down on Jones after one decent year wasn’t just misguided; it was reckless. They sunk their cap space into a quarterback who couldn’t elevate the team, only to pull the plug halfway through the season. That’s not just poor decision-making; it’s a masterclass in how to torpedo a franchise.
A Season of Embarrassment
- 3-14 record: Dead last in the NFC East.
- No franchise quarterback: Jones is gone, and there’s no clear plan moving forward.
- Saquon in Philly: Watching your best player put up a historic season for your biggest rival is salt in the wound.
And yet, John Mara decided to bring back Daboll and Schoen, the architects of this mess.
John Mara is asked why the Giants had a 3-14 record if he believes in the front office and head coach:

John Mara’s Logic…?
Mara claims he wants stability and continuity, which might sound good in a press release but is laughable in reality. Stability only works if the people you’re sticking with are competent. This isn’t continuity; it’s complacency.
Mara’s blunt admission—“Because we stunk this year”—isn’t exactly inspiring confidence, nor is his warning that improvement better come quickly. If you’re running out of patience, why double down on the people who just led you to one of the worst seasons in franchise history?
As a Birds Fan? Keep It Up, Giants
While it’s fun to roast the Giants, there’s no denying this is great news for Eagles fans. As Philly continues to dominate the NFC East, the Giants are busy tripping over themselves, keeping the people responsible for their implosion.
So thank you, John Mara, Brian Daboll, and Joe Schoen. Your incompetence is our gain. Keep making those “stability” decisions while the Eagles keep winning with Saquon Barkley racking up yards.
See you next season, Giants. Can’t wait for more of the same. Fly, Eagles, Fly.
