Saints officially request interview with Eagles’ OC Kellen Moore in head coach search

The New Orleans Saints are wasting no time in their quest for a new head coach, and Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is reportedly on their shortlist. Multiple reports confirm that the Saints have requested an interview with Moore, adding him to an intriguing list of candidates for their top job.

Saints eye Eagles OC for vacant head coach position:

Kellen Moore’s Resume

Kellen Moore’s reputation as an offensive mind has been steadily growing. After joining the Eagles this season, Kellen Moore helped guide the team to a 14-3 record, an NFC East title, and a top-seven finish in points scored. His impact on the Eagles’ offense has been undeniable, blending explosive plays with consistent production.

Before his time in Philadelphia, Moore spent four years as the offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, where he orchestrated one of the league’s most potent offenses and helped secure another NFC East title. His one-year stint with the Chargers also showcased his ability to maximize talent, though it didn’t translate to the same level of success.

Despite earning head coaching interviews in the past, Moore has yet to land the big job. But his performance with the Eagles may finally push him over the edge as a top candidate.

The Saints’ Coaching Search

The Saints parted ways with Dennis Allen during the season and turned to Darren Rizzi as interim head coach to finish the year. Now, they’re casting a wide net for their next leader, with Moore joining a list of candidates that includes:

  • Mike McCarthy: Current Dallas Cowboys head coach
  • David Shaw: Former Stanford head coach
  • Mike Vrabel: Former Tennessee Titans head coach
  • Aaron Glenn: Detroit Lions defensive coordinator
  • Matt Nagy: Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator

Each candidate brings a unique profile, but Moore’s ability to innovate on offense could make him especially appealing for a Saints team in need of a spark.

While Kellen Moore’s potential departure would be a blow to the Eagles, his candidacy speaks volumes about the job he’s done in Philadelphia. The Saints offer a significant challenge, but also an opportunity for Moore to take the reins and build something special as a head coach.

For the Eagles, losing Moore would mean finding yet another offensive coordinator to keep the team’s high-powered offense rolling. But it’s the price of success—talent attracts attention, and Moore’s work in Philadelphia has certainly done that.

Whether Moore lands the Saints job or not, it’s clear his time as a head coach is coming soon.
