Jimmy Butler stirs the pot with new preferred trade destination

Jimmy Butler reportedly now has his sights set on joining the Phoenix Suns, but there is a massive roadblock in the way.

As I am sure we are all aware, Butler has requested a trade from the Miami Heat, going public and private with this request. A new report this week surfaced that states the star forward’s favored destination would be Phoenix. Sounds like a slam dunk, right? Not just yet.

For Jimmy to be traded to the Suns, the Heat would have to take on Bradley Beal’s absolute disaster class of a contract. We are talking two years and a cool $110 million still left on this deal. That is a boatload of cash for what appears to be an absolutely washed Bradley Beal.

To make things even worse, Beal has a full no-trade clause. His agent, Mark Bartelstein quickly shut down these tumors, telling ESPN’s Brian Windhorst that there has not been any talks about Beal waiving his no-trade clause for a move.

Jimmy Butler to Phoenix may be a longshot:

Bartelstein also said that Beal had a wishlist of teams he’d be willing to join if the opportunity arises.

Does this make sense?

Now, why does this move make sense? Well, for the Phoenix Suns, it is quite obvious. If you know ball, we all know a Bradley Beal swap for Jimmy instantly moves the Suns to a heavyweight. A profounded playoff riser and performer paired with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker is no joke.

On the other hand, there are many reasons why this move would make no sense for the Miami Heat. But, they might not have any other options or moves that make sense. At the end of the day, Jimmy’s time in Miami is up and it might be better to move him sooner rather than later.

So, where does this leave Butler? Well, currently speaking he is stuck. Unless Miami is prepared to take on Beal’s large salary or the Suns can find another way to make the deal work, Butler may have to stay put—at least for now.

It’s a classic NBA shootout, with the ball in Miami’s court. Will they take the plunge and make a big move, or will Butler have to find another team to call home? Stay tuned.
