WATCH: Jalen Hurts breaks down his turnover-free, winning performance against the Green Bay Packers

Let me just say this right off the bat—there’s something about Jalen Hurts that keeps this city talking, even after a win. Philly fans, you know what I’m saying. The guy could throw for 400 yards, run for another 100, and someone would still ask, “Yeah, but can he kick a field goal too?” It’s just how this fanbase is wired.

So, when the Eagles took down the Packers in a hard-fought home playoff game, some folks were quick to nitpick Jalen’s performance. I get it—he didn’t light up the stat sheet or make every throw you’d dream of. But here’s the thing: he didn’t turn the ball over, and the Birds are moving on. That’s winning football.

Jalen Hurts addressed it himself today, and honestly, his response sums up why he’s the guy for this city. He said:

Let’s break that down for a second. That’s a quarterback who’s self-aware but also laser-focused on the bigger picture. Sure, he knows he could’ve hit on a couple more throws, and maybe he’s replaying one or two missed opportunities in his head. But the bottom line is simple: they did enough to win.

And here’s the kicker—this wasn’t just some regular-season win in October. This was the playoffs, against a very respectable Packers team, trying to take the Linc crowd out of the game. Hurts kept his composure, made smart decisions, and led the team to a victory.

Now, let’s address the elephant in the room. If you’re one of those people who think Jalen Hurts needed to be perfect in this game to prove something, you might be missing the point. Playoff football is about finding a way to get it done, and Jalen has done that time and time again. Turnover-free football in January? That’s a quarterback doing his job.

But hey, this is Philly, right? We’ll always want more. That’s part of the DNA here. Even when the team wins, we’re debating how they could’ve done it better. That’s not a knock on us—it’s what makes this fanbase so passionate.

So, yeah, maybe Jalen didn’t throw for 300 yards or put up MVP numbers in this one. Which is funny in it’s own right to have those stat line expectations, because many of his peers were atrocious this weekend. Justin Herbert threw four interceptions, Sam Darnold looked like a deer in the headlights, and Jordan Love threw three picks.

So, all I ask is you take that into consideration. And while you’re at it, ask yourself this: when the clock hit zero and the Eagles were celebrating a playoff win at home, did Jalen’s stat line really matter? The answer is no.

Hurts said it best—they did enough to win. And that’s all you can ask for when the stakes are this high. On to the next one, Eagles fans. This is a big one against the LA Rams, who may be a tougher opponent than the Green Bay Packers. Regardless, the objective remains the same, win the damn football game by any means.

With that said, I think it comes as a perfect reminder to quote the great Mr. Hurts himself from a press conference earlier this season.

“It’s about the team. I don’t care how it looks. It’s kinda my game and I think that’s something that people have to accept. It’s going to look how Jalen Hurts wants it to look, you know, but he’s going to win.”

Put that on a billboard. Or hell, maybe we’ll put that on a shirt and sell it in TheLibertyLine shop.
