Knicks Fans prove yet again why they’re the worst in sports, cry over Karl-Anthony Towns wearing an Eagles sweatshirt while sitting on the bench last night in South Philly
The New York Knicks fanbase strikes again, and this time it’s over something as harmless as Karl-Anthony Towns wearing a Philadelphia Eagles sweatshirt while sitting on the bench during a game against the ‘Process’ 76ers last night at the Wells Fargo Center.
As usual, Knicks fans picked the dumbest hill to die on and were completely outraged at KAT rocking an Eagles sweatshirt on the bench during the Knicks overtime win over the shorthanded 76ers last night, proving once again that they are the most insufferable fans in all of sports.

Karl-Anthony Towns Wardrobe Change at Halftime:
Hey Knicks Fans…Karl-Anthony Towns Can’t Rep His Hometown? Why?
Karl-Anthony Towns is from the Philadelphia area. He’s been an Eagles fan his entire life. Expecting him to suddenly turn his back on that because he now plays for the Knicks is peak Knicks fan entitlement.
What exactly do you want him to do? Cheer for the Giants or Jets?
I mean seriously, those NFL teams are the football equivalent of Knicks basketball—perpetually mediocre, riddled with bad decisions, and allergic to success. Meanwhile, the Eagles are a class organization, reigning atop the NFC, and consistently in the Super Bowl conversation.
Knicks fans demanding loyalty is laughable when their own teams can’t give them anything to root for whenever the calendar flips to January and February each year.
The Hypocrisy of Knicks Fans
The Knicks are paying KAT, sure, but that doesn’t mean he owes you allegiance to the city’s other teams. Knicks fans act like playing in New York means you have to blindly adopt all things New York. Guess what? That’s not how fandom works. Loyalty to your hometown team doesn’t disappear because you switched zip codes for a paycheck.
If anything, Karl-Anthony Towns staying true to his roots shows authenticity—a concept Knicks fans wouldn’t recognize if it smacked them in the face.
Knicks fans are too dumb to realize that the First Amendment was born in Philadelphia
Here’s a fun fact for Knicks fans: the First Amendment, which protects freedom of speech and expression, was conceptualized and ratified in Philadelphia.
That means KAT is well within his rights to wear whatever he wants, even if it offends the delicate sensibilities of Knicks fans. The Knicks fanbase might want to censor him, but according to the good ol’ US of A, you don’t get to dictate someone else’s personal expression.
KAT’s Real Offense: Wearing Knicks Gear
The real tragedy here isn’t that KAT was wearing an Eagles sweatshirt—it’s that he had Knicks gear underneath it at all. The Eagles sweatshirt represented a team with competence, success, and pride.
Side Note: I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the Knicks made KAT ditch the sweatshirt.
Knicks Fans Need to Get a Grip
Even Jalen Brunson came to KAT’s defense after the game, saying he would have kept the sweatshirt on. What do Knicks fans have to say about that? It’s like their peanut-sized brains forgot that half of their team’s roster is made up of Villanova basketball players and now KAT, who again is from the Philly area.
This is all a classic case of deflecting from Knicks fans. They were probably mad that their basketball team just went to overtime to beat the Process 76ers and the organization they root for as a whole has basically been in basketball purgatory for the better part of three decades.
The Knicks haven’t sniffed a championship since 1973. Instead of channeling that frustration into demanding better from your franchise, you’re fixated on an Eagles sweatshirt. It’s pathetic.
Karl-Anthony Towns is playing incredible basketball this season. He’s averaging 25.4 points and 10.9 rebounds per game, but instead of appreciating that, you’re crying over what team he supports in the NFL?
I couldn’t even tell you how many times Allen Iverson walked into arenas in South Philly wearing anything but Philly sports gear. Outside of the fake outrage on Philly Sports Talk Radio, literally no one gave a shit.
If the Knicks actually built a winning culture, you wouldn’t have time to care about what he’s wearing on the bench. Unfortunately, this basketball organization hasn’t been relevant for decades and you can add this to the list of reasons why.
Instead of complaining about Karl-Anthony Towns and his Eagles fandom, Knicks fans should focus on fixing their own house. Maybe then, you’ll have something to cheer about that isn’t tied to your city’s crumbling sports landscape.
Until then, leave KAT alone. He’s a Philly guy, and the Eagles are winners. Two things Knicks fans wouldn’t know anything about.
GO BIRDS.
