Strong Agree: Seth Joyner tells Eagles fans to “shut up and enjoy the ride” in regards to those complaining about the passing game

Let me start this post off by using my elite pro wrestling background to analyze Seth Joyner.

My WWE background is no joke, so I have every right in saying that Seth Joyner has done a complete face turn in regards to his Eagles opinions and nothing shows that more than his message to Birds fans ahead of Sunday’s playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams.

What do I mean by that?

If you don’t listen to Philly Sports Talk Radio, I don’t blame you. Seth Joyner has made quite the name for himself by being overly-critical of the Eagles while constantly setting incredibly high expectations for our football team, probably because it then makes it easier to trash them when they are not met.

For a ‘glass half full’ Eagles fan like myself, I obviously take issue with that but Seth Joyner tends to get a pass given his resume and the fact that every other radio host in the city is complete dog shit.

Regardless, I think Seth Joyner made an excellent point on the Eagles, the passing game, and Jalen Hurts ahead of Sunday’s game against the Rams.

Seth Joyner on Eagles fans complaining about the passing game

“This team is in position for a Super Bowl run. And all that everybody wants to talk about is that ‘oh Jalen Hurts might be the reason why this team doesn’t advance to the Super Bowl.’ What kind of small thinking is that? Well let me tell you something. Let me tell you about this quarterback. Every time this year when this team has needed him to show up and show out, he has shown up and shown out. Now it might not be to the numbers that the gurus, and everybody in this pass-happy NFL thinks that those numbers should be.

But let me ask you a question; would you rather have Justin Herbert and his four interceptions last week? Would you like to have Jordan Love and his three interceptions last week? Or would you love to have Russell Wilson and his garbage time numbers last week and his pedestrian play last week? How would you like to have Sam Darnold, who pretty much puked on his shoes over the last two weeks? “

That’s what you want? You’d rather have a quarterback that throws for 300 yards and you lose the damn game? All we want to talk about is the fact that he (Hurts) is the weak link, when all he’s shown us since he’s been here is that he’s a winner, that he knows how to win, that he knows how to make it happen when it matters the most. Isn’t that what’s most important for your quarterback? Are we so drunk on the numbers that we can’t see the reality of that?”

Put down your calculators and exit out of the box score, it’s not all about numbers

I feel like I’m beating a dead horse here. As Eagles fans—and honestly, as football fans in general—we all need to take a step back and reassess how we view quarterbacks and, frankly, what it means to win in today’s game.

The Obsession with “Arm Talent” and Passing Stats

There’s so much focus on “arm talent” and passing numbers these days, but we’re overlooking the bigger picture. At the end of the day, it all comes down to one thing: winning. That’s always been the goal, or at least it should be, right?

There’s no need to over-analyze or nitpick individual numbers when your team is winning football games. That’s literally all that matters and no one will go back and look at a players individual stats if we are parading down Broad Street in February with a Lombardi Trophy.

“Keep The Main Thing The Main Thing…”

If your quarterback is putting up solid numbers, and your team is winning at an historic rate, what are we really debating? The Eagles are on the verge of something special. This is a team that’s consistently performing at the highest level, and it’s impossible to ignore.

I can promise you this: in those team meetings and film sessions, they are always searching for ways to improve the passing game. They know they’re a Super Bowl contender. The work ethic is there, the talent is there, and the focus is sharp and honestly, to think otherwise is simply foolish.

This team has a legitimate shot at bringing another championship to this city, and to suggest that they aren’t doing everything in their power to deliver that would be underestimating their commitment.

In the end, it’s about results. And as long as the wins keep coming, that’s all that truly matters.
