Rumor: Jalen Hurts was so heavily medicated Sunday that he wouldn’t have been able to drive, but still gutted it out for a W
I think it was pretty obvious that Eagles QB Jalen Hurts was on some sort of painkiller during Sunday’s showdown with LA.
After the game, he spoke with an NBC Sports reporter, grinning ear to ear, talking about video games and sharing Dr. Suess nursery rhymes.
Jalen Hurts off the percs

I’ve never seen Hurts talk like this. “I love football, how bout that?” Yeah, man, how ’bout it. Then he goes onto to talk about how he put “the snow up to a hundred on the video game and all that.” This dude was high as a motherfucker.
It didn’t matter at the end of the day, the Birds still won. But an interesting tidbit out of the rumor mill popped up early this week in the form of a Blind Item. I had no idea what a Blind Item even was before seeing this, so here’s how Google defines it:
“A ‘blind item’ is a piece of gossip or news story, usually found in a gossip column, where the details of a situation are reported but the identities of the people involved are kept secret, allowing the author to share potentially sensitive information without risking legal repercussions by not explicitly naming individuals involved.”
There are several websites where Blind Items are prominent and they’ve carved out a niche for themselves on social media. It’s basically just gossip — so take this with a grain of salt.
This Blind Item states, “This A list NFL player gutted it out yesterday but was medicated up to his eyeballs. He wouldn’t have been able to drive in his condition but he wanted to play.” It was posted on Monday and given how the weekend transpired, it’s pretty obviously talking about Jalen Hurts.
Luckily, I’m sure QB1 had someone that could drive him home. It’s also no secret that players will take painkillers to get through a game if an injury isn’t too severe.
Through his tenure, I don’t think anyone would disagree that Jalen Hurts embodies everything Philly stands for. Hard work, grit, no bullshit attitude. Add this to the list — playing in a playoff game high as fuck off painkillers. That’s Philly to a tee.
