One Of Us: CJ Gardner-Johnson says he plans on ‘getting drunk’ if the Eagles win Super Bowl
If the Eagles take care of business on Sunday against the Chiefs, CJ Gardner-Johnson already has his postgame plans locked in. No long-winded speech about celebrating with teammates. No clichéd “just happy to win it for the city” answer.
Nope. CJGJ kept it 100% honest at media night: “I’m gettin’ drunk.” That’s it. That’s the tweet.
One Of Us: CJ Gardner-Johnson says he plans on ‘getting drunk’ if the Eagles win Super Bowl
CJ Gardner-Johnson’s Second Shot at Patrick Mahomes & the Kansas City Chiefs
Two years ago, Gardner-Johnson was on the wrong end of a second half collapse in Super Bowl LVII, watching Mahomes and the Chiefs rip the Lombardi Trophy right out of Philly’s hands.
He then bolted in free agency, landing with the Lions for one injury-riddled season before coming back home to Philadelphia on a three-year, $27 million deal. Since then, he’s brought the juice back to a defense that completely lost its edge in 2023. His six interceptions this season led the team, and his trash talk remains Hall of Fame-level elite.
Now he gets another crack at Mahomes, this time with some new weapons in the secondary. Unlike last time, where the Eagles’ defensive backs were cooked in crunch time, Philly now has the talent and depth to go toe-to-toe with Mahomes & Co.
Eagles Secondary: Upgraded & Ready
- Darius Slay: Still one of the best in the game.
- CJ Gardner-Johnson: The certified instigator.
- Quinyon Mitchell & Cooper DeJean: The two rookie studs who give this defense something it lacked in Super Bowl LVII.
If the Eagles actually get revenge and take down the Chiefs, expect Gardner-Johnson to be at the center of the party, getting drunk with fans and wearing his Super Bowl bling on his ring finger because he’s married to the game – obviously.
CJ Gardner-Johnson: Married to the Game
Whether it’s shotgunning beers in the locker room, barking at every camera in sight, or throwing back celebratory shots at the parade—CJGJ is making sure this one is different.
And honestly? He’s earned that right.
