WATCH: Fan breaks Jimmy Butler trade news to Heat bench during game against the Philadelphia 76ers
You couldn’t script a more hilariously ironic scenario if you tried. In the middle of a Miami Heat vs. Philadelphia 76ers game—where Sixers fans have been desperately dreaming of a Jimmy Butler reunion—Butler instead gets shipped off to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson, and a protected first-round pick.
The way that Jimmy Butler’s teammates found it is absolutely hilarious. No, it wasn’t from Woj or Shams, but rather a random Sixers fan sitting behind their bench at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night.
Pure South Philly energy right there. And people want to say that Philly fans aren’t the most educated in all of sports? Yeah, okay.

This unnamed Sixers fan—who honestly deserves some kind of media credential at this point—was filmed casually dropping the trade details to Heat players mid-game.
Kevin Love, Tyler Herro, and Jaime Jaquez Jr. were all in disbelief, looking at this dude like he just cracked the NBA matrix.
- Love looked like he was interrogating Woj himself.
- Herro had that “no way, bro” smirk plastered on his face—which, honestly, don’t you just want to slap off?
- Jaquez looked like a guy who just realized his bags might be packed next.
We’ve seen players find out they were traded mid-game before, but this? This is next-level.
A Sixers fan scooping NBA insiders and breaking the hearts of Heat players in real time?
Incredible.
Pat Riley, It’s Time to Hang It Up
While we’re here, shoutout to Pat Riley for yet another disasterclass as Miami’s front office leader.
At this point, the guy is completely washed.
The NBA has passed him by like it was a 2022 Max Strus game-winner that didn’t actually count. He’s still rocking the slicked-back hair and oversized Armani suits, but what has he done lately besides overhype the Heat and let their best player walk?
Once upon a time, Miami was a respectable franchise. Now? It’s a glorified soap opera where Tyler Herro acts like Steph Curry, Heat fans live in constant delusion, and the team only makes headlines when they lose out on superstars in free agency.
Seriously, Riley messed this up badly. Whether it’s money, incompetence, or just the inevitable Heat dysfunction, Butler wanted out, and now he’s gone.
And with that, Miami is officially back where they belong—irrelevant.
What Does This Mean for the Sixers?
Daryl Morey, I beg you—DO SOMETHING.
I could go on another long rant about this franchise, but honestly, I’m tired. I just want to see my team make a move before the trade deadline instead of watching every other contender reload while the Sixers stay stagnant.
This trade doesn’t really affect Philly directly, but let’s be real—a Butler-Embiid reunion should have happened. Instead, Joel’s best co-star heads to Golden State, and we’re left hoping for some miracle before the deadline.
Clock’s ticking, Morey.
