Cooper DeJean receives unexpected praise from “Chiefs” fan, Caitlin Clark; who is secretly a Philadelphia Eagles fan

Well, it turns out not all Kansas City Chiefs are sore losers. Caitlin Clark, who is a known Chiefs fan, actually took the time to reach out to Cooper DeJean following the Eagles Super Bowl win to congratulate him.

The two both were superstars at the University of Iowa. So, it’s honestly insane how both Clark and DeJean have turned into stars in just their rookie seasons in their respective pro sports. For Caitlin’s sake, she’s the face of women’s basketball, and for DeJean, he was one of the best statistical defensive backs in the entire NFL.

The rookie cornerback delivered the game-changing moment in the Super Bowl, intercepting Patrick Mahomes and taking it to the house for his first career pick-six. Not only was it his first NFL interception and touchdown, but it also put the Eagles up by 17, sealing their dominant victory over the Chiefs.

Nonetheless, Cooper DeJean appeared on Kay Adam’s show following the Super Bowl and shared what Clark had to say

While the two Iowa legends appear to be friends, I can’t imagine it was easy for Clark to see her team get embarrassed like that, especially when she also shares a fandom/friendship of Taylor Swift, who took all sorts of “L’s” on Super Bowl Sunday.

Tough sledding for Taylor Swift who abandoned the Eagles for the Chiefs…

Her boyfriend played one his worst games of his career, the Chiefs got spanked, and Eagles fans boo’ed her out of the stadium, once her face was shown on the big screen in Caesar’s Super Dome.

While Taylor Swift has made it clear where she stands, this blog is about Caitlin Clark, who is indeed a Kansas City Chiefs fan. Or is she?

Where was Caitlin Clark on Super Bowl Sunday?

Wouldn’t you think a stage as big as the Super Bowl would warrant her appearance? Especially given the fact that she had one of the biggest commercials being aired during it. Or the fact that her former friend from Iowa, Cooper DeJean is playing in the big game?

All fair questions

Which leads me to this: Caitlin Clark is a Philadelphia Eagles fan. Or as the kids say, a “closet” Philadelphia Eagles fan. How do I know that? Well if you’ve been following my work here for quite some time, you are probably aware of her doing the play-by-play commentary during a Phillies game.

Caitlin Clark’s Phillies commentary goes viral; Tom McCarthy invites her into the booth at Citizens Bank Park ahead of Red October 2024 >>

A cool moment from back in late September, but it turns out Caitlin is a Phillies fan due to her boyfriend’s fandom to the team. How cool is that?

My revival plan for Philadelphia basketball

So Philadelphia, I think we should welcome her with open arms. And who knows, maybe by the time we get a WNBA team in this city, we could land in her in free agency. That of course, would take some great GM work, and perhaps instead of Jeffery Lurie buying the Celtics, he could just be the owner of our pro women’s basketball team.

From there, appoint Howie Roseman as the GM, and we are off and running baby. Feels like a match made in heaven at this point. Especially given how embarrassing the 76ers are.

A Perfect Union of Fandoms

In the end, nothing makes me happier than writing about my beloved Philadelphia Eagles and one of my all-time favorite athletes, Caitlin Clark. If you haven’t heard, I proudly hold the title of The Liberty Line’s official Caitlin Clark reporter and merchant—not just because I’m a huge fan, but because my coverage of her always draws a massive audience.
