Micah Parsons Sumo Wrestler

WATCH: Micah Parsons lining up against a sumo wrestler has us questioning why the NFL hasn’t tapped into that market yet

Micah Parsons just dropped into the world of sumo wrestling and walked away with a win.

During his Asia tour with Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud, the Dallas Cowboys star linebacker decided to test himself against a professional sumo wrestler in Tokyo.

It went about how you’d expect at first—Parsons got rag-dolled out of the ring while Stroud laughed it up from the sidelines, throwing in some well-timed trash talk.

To his credit, Micah Parsons refused to go out like that. He demanded a rematch, adjusted his stance, and somehow—some way—he actually won round two. Ignore his stupid quote tweet. Somehow, Parsons always knows how to ruin a rare occasion where he actually does something cool.

Micah Parsons makes everything cringe…lol

Why Hasn’t the NFL Considered This Before?

Watching Parsons hold his own against one of the strongest human beings on the planet made me realize something:

How has the NFL not tapped into the Sumo Wrestling market?

Think about it—massive human beings trained in leverage, balance, and raw power? If you’re looking to clog the trenches, why aren’t teams scouting the sumo circuit?

The Eagles already thought outside the box and brought in Jordan Mailata, a rugby player, to protect Jalen Hurts—and it’s worked to perfection.

Rugby is a violent, physical sport, sure. But sumo wrestlers? These guys are literally trained to overpower and move people against their will. You telling me a 6’2”, 400-pound sumo champ with absurd flexibility and center of gravity couldn’t be a menace at nose tackle?

Time to Get Creative

NFL teams constantly experiment with different backgrounds—former basketball players, track stars, wrestlers, and even firemen here in Philly. But somehow, sumo remains untapped. Seems like a massive oversight, right?

Would it take some adjustment? Sure. They’d have to learn how to actually tackle and not just push people around. But is that really any harder than teaching an ex-basketball player how to block?

If you’re an NFL GM, how do you not at least bring one of these guys in for a camp invite? Picture it—an actual sumo wrestler going toe-to-toe with Jason Kelce at the goal line.

Tell me that wouldn’t be must-watch television.

Micah Parsons Leads the Way?

Maybe Parsons is ahead of the curve here. Maybe this wasn’t just some fun offseason stunt—maybe he’s secretly doing some early scouting for Jerry Jones.

If sumo wrestlers start showing up at the NFL Combine in the next few years, just remember: Micah Parsons was the first to take on the challenge.
