CJ Gardner-Johnson is still Tweeting and it’s pretty clear who he’s talking about
On Wednesday, CJ Gardner-Johnson fired off some cryptic Tweets that seems to take aim at the Eagles and possibly former teammate Darius Slay. On Thursday morning, the Tweets continued, and now it seems pretty clear that he’s talking about Slay.
He’s sent out three Tweets for far, all of which are pointing out how the Eagles clearly lost a step on defense when CJGJ wasn’t here in 2023 and veteran leadership moving forward.
It almost seems like he thinks the team doesn’t value him? I’m not really sure. He’s just talking to himself at this point.

Many people assumed his initial tweets were a response to Darius Slay’s comments on his podcast. The former Eagle had discussed which veteran might step up as the leader in the secondary now that he’s no longer with the team. CJ Gardner-Johnson’s name was not mentioned in that podcast, which probably spurred this Tweeting spree.
If this is the reason CJGJ is sending these Tweets, I think it’s a pretty silly one. It’s just unnecessarily drawing attention to a non-issue. Nobody thinks CJ Gardner-Johnson should be replaced this offseason. I’m sure Slay doesn’t think that either. It’s just a weird thing to get all worked up over.
But this is who CJGJ is, and at the end of the day, it doesn’t bug me enough to want him out of here. You may have to deal with some unwarranted noise with him during the offseason, but on Sundays, he’s one of my favorite players and always seems to make impact plays.
Maybe CJGJ will come out and tell everyone what’s bugging him instead of sending these cryptic Tweets, or maybe he won’t. Who knows, and frankly, who cares. It’s not a huge deal, it’s just a little confusing.
