CJ Gardner-Johnson fires off cryptic Tweet, claims it has nothing to do with Eagles

CJ Gardner-Johnson loves to talk, it’s part of why he’s a great player and why the Eagles secondary got their swag back last season. But sometimes, he fires off Tweets that make me scratch my head.

On Wednesday, he sent out this bad boy and had all of Eagles nation wondering what was going on.

He sent this out around 10 AM this morning. So, for those who think he’s referring to the Eagles giving Zack Baun a new contract and not himself — that can’t be true. The Eagles re-signed Baun around 2 PM.

The more popular theory, is that it’s in reference to Darius Slay.

On a recent episode of his podcast, Slay talked about the new potential leader of the Eagles secondary now that he’s gone. He pointed specifically to Reed Blankenship, without mentioning CJ Gardner-Johnson at all.

After everyone started theorizing on what CJGJ was talking about, he came out to set the record straight. Apparently, the Tweet had nothing to do with the team or his current contract.

I love CJ and hope he finishes his career in Philly, but I’ll never understand doing stuff like this. It’s just stirring the pot for the sake of stirring the pot. None of it even really matters at the end of the day, it’s just a little annoying from a fan’s perspective.

I don’t see this little squabble dragging out. Everything will be nipped in the bud within a week or two and people will forget about this whole thing.
