Jalen Hurts & Nick Foles make NFL history with wild Eagles benchmark
The Eagles struck gold when they drafted Nick Foles in the third round of 2012 and Jalen Hurts in the second round of 2020. Looking back, those might be two of the smartest moves this franchise has ever made.
Two Quarterbacks, Two Super Bowls
Both of these guys stepped up when it mattered most, delivering on the biggest stage. Foles, the ultimate underdog, outdueled Tom Freakin’ Brady and brought Philly its first Lombardi. A backup QB taking down the GOAT? Foles will be a legend in this city forever and his name is carved into NFL history.
The wildest part about Jalen Hurts’ situation? If Jonathan Gannon’s defense wasn’t completely unprepared for that Super Bowl, Hurts would already have two rings and two Super Bowl MVPs to his name. The guy put on an all-time performance, only for the defense to roll over and let Mahomes waltz his way to another trophy. Nonetheless, Hurts got his get back this time around.

And that brings me to this insane stat I just uncovered—The Philadelphia Eagles are the only team to draft two quarterbacks outside the first round who went on to start and win a Super Bowl. Think about that. No other franchise has done it.
Not only did Jalen Hurts & Nick Foles win, they put on all time performances

So yeah, Jalen Hurts and Nick Foles are forever etched into Eagles and NFL history, but the job ain’t finished. It’s time to keep raising the bar and setting the new standard.
And shoutout to Doug Pederson—no disrespect. We will always love Dougie P, but let’s be real, it took a new coaching staff and a new QB to really redefine what that standard means in Philly.
“The next pursuit begins.” – Jalen Hurts
The 2025 NFL Draft is creeping up, and Birds fans are already deep in their scouting bags, trying to predict who we’ll snag with the 32nd overall pick, or what Howie Roseman will do with that pick for that matter.
Obviously fanbases all across the country spend this time of the year scouting first-round talent and trying to get a feel for the next young player they could bring into their franchise. But, where it really gets interesting is when you get to rounds two and three. That’s when the real ones stay locked in. Because guess what? The Eagles found two Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks outside the first round before. Who’s to say we won’t do it again?
We could of course, just make a blockbuster trade for Myles Garrett and continue to add to the superstar talent on this team. Ya know, since Howie Roseman locked up all of our key, foundation pieces on this team.
