Athletics Sacramento Las Vegas

The Athletics will wear Sacramento and Las Vegas patches in 2025, because why settle for one city?

The Oakland Athletics—sorry, the West Sacramento Athletics, or maybe the Las Vegas Athletics—are embracing their identity crisis in a way only they could. This season, the team will wear two patches: one for Sacramento, where they’ll play their home games, and one for Las Vegas, where they swear they’re moving in 2028.

Nothing says commitment like stitching your uncertain future directly onto your sleeves.

The A’s dropped the news on X unveiling the Las Vegas patch, which, of course, was met with all the enthusiasm of a root canal. It’s not like you saw the disgust from A’s fans though. In a move that should surprise absolutely no one, they turned off the comments.

You know, because nothing screams confidence in a decision like refusing to hear feedback from the people affected by it.

The patch isn’t just for show, either—it’s part of a three-year marketing deal with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. Yes, the city that still doesn’t have a stadium or a real connection to the team is already paying for branding.

John Fisher’s Latest Tone-Deaf Quote

Here’s what A’s owner John Fisher had to say:

“For the Athletics, this partnership is more than just a jersey patch—it’s the beginning of the transition to our new home. This is a chance to wear our hearts on our sleeves for the next three years before bringing the vibrant spirit of our new home front and center across our uniform.”

Translation: “We’re still playing in Sacramento, but please pretend we’re already in Vegas.”

It’s one thing for a franchise to move—it happens. But the A’s have taken this whole process and somehow made it even worse. This isn’t just relocation. It’s a never-ending farewell tour with a destination that still doesn’t feel real.

If Fisher actually cared about history, there’d be an Oakland patch somewhere on those jerseys, acknowledging where this team truly belongs. But instead, the A’s are stuck in baseball purgatory—physically in Sacramento, mentally in Vegas, and spiritually still lingering in the Bay Area.

Side Note: I actually love the idea of the Athletics playing in West Sacramento in a small baseball stadium. It would be very cool to catch a game there. The problem is with how they ended up there, obviously.

I write about the Oakland Athletics a lot because I hate what happened to their fanbase. On top of that, they are truly a Philadelphia team so it’s always good to keep tabs on them. Also, Las Vegas native Bryce Harper is on record saying he doesn’t support the move and that’s our guy so I’m more than happy to join that side of the argument.

Oakland Athletics plan a ‘reverse boycott’ to show the organization that the team’s failure is not the fault of them not showing up to games

Highlights: Athletics fans held a ‘reverse boycott’ last night in Oakland and the turnout was INCREDIBLE

Oakland Athletics, MLB fans are convinced that players who support the protests to prevent move to Las Vegas is promptly removed from the major league roster and they might be right

At this point, they might as well slap a “Thanks for nothing, John Fisher” patch on there, too. It’d be the most honest branding move they’ve made in years.
