Hilarious: Giants gave Darius Slayton the same deal they refused to give Saquon Barkley last offseason

Everyone knows the New York Giants are a joke of an organization — this is not news. We all saw the shit show last offseason when the team thought it was a good idea to let HBO film their mishandling of the Saquon Barkley situation.

Remarkably, the GM responsible for that mess, Joe Schoen, is still employed by the Giants. He has been surprisingly active this offseason, signing a few notable players and retaining some of his own.

One of Schoen’s first moves on Monday was re-signing wide receiver Darius Slayton, who agreed to a three-year, $36 million contract to remain in New York.

At first glance, this seems like a fairly standard deal — nothing out of the ordinary. But then you remember that Saquon Barkley signed with the Eagles last offseason for nearly the same amount, making Schoen’s incompetence even more baffling.

The Giants are run by a big doofus

Slayton is under contract for three years at $36 million, while Saquon signed a three-year, $38 million deal last offseason. It goes without saying that Saquon is a far more impactful player than Darius Slayton. For some inexplicable reason, New York didn’t see it that way.

The Eagles are fortunate to have both the Giants and Cowboys in their division — two of the most poorly run franchises in the league. Getting to face them twice a year is a luxury I don’t take for granted.
