Report: Eagles bolster backfield, sign former Packers running back to one-year deal

Sound the alarms, the Philadelphia Eagles have finally signed an external free agent.

First reported by Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports, former Packers running back A.J. Dillon is signing a one-year deal with the Eagles.

Dillon, 26, will join a rushing attack that features reigning OPOY Saquon Barkley and second-year player Will Shipley following the departure of Kenny Gainwell, who signed with the Steelers yesterday.

After spending the entire 2024 season on injured reserve due to a neck injury, Dillon has been fully cleared by doctors to return.

Dillon is a strong back who, much like Barkley, is known for his lower-body strength, hence his nicknames ‘Quadfather’ and ‘Quadzilla’.

When healthy, Dillon will be able to run clock late in games and allow the Eagles to limit Barkley’s mileage throughout the season.

Over his first four years in Green Bay, Dillon rushed for 2,428 yards at 4.1 yards per carry and 16 touchdowns. He recorded three consecutive seasons of 600+ rushing yards while serving as the primary backup to Aaron Jones.
