Report: Eagles sign former Giants pass-rusher to one-year deal

The Eagles continue to bolster their pass rush and are poaching another New York Giant to do so.

First reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, free agent edge-rusher Azeez Ojulari has agreed to a one-year, $4M contract with Philadelphia.

Ojulari, who turns 25 in June, has been a productive pass-rusher despite battling injuries throughout his young career.

After being drafted No. 50 overall by the Giants, Ojulari tallied 8.0 sacks (franchise rookie record) and 13 QB hits in 2021.

Injuries plagued Ojulari’s next three seasons, appearing in just 29 games over that span. The upside is clearly there, however, and well worth the risk for Philadelphia.

In just 11 games last season, Ojulari recorded 10 QB hits, 7 TFLs, and 6.0 sacks, the second most sacks among all players who logged less than 400 snaps. The Eagles added a talented edge-rusher who can slide into a rotation with Nolan Smith, Jalyx Hunt, and newly-signed Josh Uche.

Per Spotrac, Ojulari’s market value was $7.6M AAV — he signed with Philly for nearly half of that. Josh Sweat and Milton Williams just cashed in playing alongside Jalen Carter; Ojulari will be next if he can stay healthy and win his 1v1 reps.

Howie Roseman can also add Ojulari to the list of former Georgia players on his roster.
