WIP ESP Tush Push

Shocker: WIP host thinks banning Eagles’ Tush Push would be a good thing

94WIP has seen better days. Honestly, I find myself listening to it less and less, but I do have a soft spot for avid TLL reader Eliot Shorr-Parks. Which is why writing this pains me to my core.

In his heart of hearts, ESP is a takesman. And to his credit, he’s arguably the best takesman on WIP nowadays. Gone are the days of bitching about every single thing that happens (Eskin/Cataldi era), in are the days of having strong takes (ESP era).

If we’re talking strictly takes, this latest one from ESP belongs in the S-Tier. After it was reported that the Green Bay Packers officially proposed a ban on the Tush Push, Eliot unleashed this take on Twitter — driving Eagles fans to madness in the process.

This should be hung in the WIP Hall of Fame

Helluva take, ESP.

Do I agree with it? Not even a little bit.

Do I respect the take? Absolutely.

It’s important to distinguish hot takes from reality. That’s what ESP does — it’s a performance, in a sense. Having met him and talked for a bit, I can confirm that he genuinely stands by these takes even off the air. However, he has admitted that, in the end, it’s all about generating views.

It’s all part of the game, baby. If you’re not generating buzz, you’re not making money. Like it or not, that’s the reality — especially in WIP and the sports media world as a whole.
