WATCH: Hunter Dickinson single-handedly ruins Kansas’ March Madness run—And my perfect bracket

Hunter Dickinson has been in college for about 37 years, and in all that time, he still hasn’t learned how to show up when it matters in the Big Dance.

Kansas had one job—ONE JOB—and they let Arkansas snatch their souls in the first round of March Madness.

Again, Hunter Dickinson went back to school for one more shot at a national title. Instead, he went out with a whimper, a bad pass, and a first-round exit to Arkansas. Kansas blew an 11-point second-half lead, Dickinson threw the most ill-advised pass of his five-year career, and just like that, the Jayhawks are done in the Round of 64.

This loss is 100% on Dickinson. Not 90%, not 95%, a full 100%. Because of him, I went 5-1 on my bets instead of a perfect 6-0. That’s money out of my pocket and a ruined bracket.

That’s my entire Thursday mood down the drain, thanks to this guy who’s somehow still playing college basketball in 2025.

The Boneheaded Turnover That Sealed Kansas’ Fate

Kansas had just taken a three-point lead with under three minutes to play. They secured the defensive rebound, and all they had to do was settle into their offense and milk some clock.

But no, even after all these years Dickinson still can’t handle the pressure in crucial moments. Dickinson catches the ball above the arc and floats a lazy, telegraphed pass to Zeke Mayo that Boogie Fland could’ve intercepted with his eyes closed.

Easy bucket the other way.

Hunter Dickinson with one of the worst passes that lead to the Arkansas run

At this point, I’m convinced Dickinson has been playing college hoops since the MySpace era. He’s got more eligibility than actual legacy.

Let’s review the résumé:

  • Three years at Michigan
  • Two years at Kansas (COVID bonus season)
  • All-American honors
  • Endless trash talk
  • ZERO clutch performances when it counts

Hunter Dickinson had five chances to make a deep run and never delivered when it mattered. And now, in Year 5, he’s bowing out in the Round of 64 like it’s some casual early-season tournament in November.

And somehow, despite all those years of experience, this dude still makes the kind of mistakes a freshman would get benched for. 4-for-13 shooting, 11 points, 9 rebounds, and the worst pass of the tournament so far?

Kansas fans should be furious. I’m furious. My wallet is furious. That pass was the worst decision of the tournament so far, and there have been some heinous ones. It wasn’t just a mental lapse. It was the kind of moment that defines your career—for all the wrong reasons.

Speaking of furious, take a loot at me crashing out in real time at Hunter Dickinson.

Editors Note (Smith) – I couldn’t be happier that Kansas lost. I’m not watching March Madness as I stand with the state of West Virginia after WVU got snubbed and our lying, snake-of-a-coach left Morgantown. If I was watching, I would have told Steven that betting on Kansas was dumb to begin with. Thank you.

What better ending for one of College Basketball’s villains?

Hunter Dickinson has made himself the villain of college basketball with all his trash talk, all his antics, and now he’s going out in the most poetic way possible by choking away a March Madness game on national television.

Kansas fans, I feel for you. But more importantly, I feel for myself because I should be 6-0 right now. Instead, I have to live with the fact that I trusted Hunter Dickinson.

Never again. Thanks for nothing, Hunter. See you in the G League.
