WATCH: Stephen A Smith challenges Trump, Vance to DEI debate on national TV
It’s starting to become pretty clear that Stephen A Smith is positioning himself to get into politics. This latest statement just reinforces that.
In his closing statement on ESPN’s flagship show First Take, Stephen A Smith looked directly at the camera to challenge both Donald Trump and JD Vance to a nationally televised debate. The topic — the government scrubbing Jackie Robinson’s military story from the Department of Defense’s website.

As soon as people noticed Robinson’s military background removed from the website, the Department of Defense promptly restored it. I’m assuming the website used AI to search for keywords to refine their scrub — probably keying in on the word ‘black’ to try and remove anything DEI related from their records.
Regardless of where you fall on the political spectrum, erasing history is something we should all be against.

Erasing American history from websites or history books is harmful to humanity because it strips away the lessons, struggles, and progress that have shaped society. History — both its triumphs and its failures — offers critical insight into human behavior, governance, and cultural development.
Without an honest and complete record, future generations lose the opportunity to learn from past mistakes, honor those who fought for change, and build a more informed, just world. Suppressing history doesn’t erase injustice — it only risks repeating it.
If Stephen A. Smith gets his wish, I’d tune in. Even though I kinda hate how much politics have infiltrated sports, I have to admit that this is still intriguing.
