Eagles flip $51M edge rusher for draft picks in proposed trade
It certainly feels like the Eagles are on the verge of trading pass rusher Bryce Huff. After just one year with the team, it seems like his time in Philly may already be over.
With a $51M price tag and a clear disconnect between Huff and Vic Fangio’s system, Howie Roseman may just cut bait. Not to mention, the team has already brought in two pass rushers during free agency, Josh Uche and Azeez Ojulari.

In a mock trade from Bleacher Report, Philly would send edge rusher Bryce Huff to the Detroit Lions in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round pick and a 2025 seventh-rounder. On the surface, it may feel like the Eagles are giving up on a player just one year into a $51 million contract — but for fans paying attention, this might be the exact kind of reset the team needs.
Eagles fans know something doesn’t add up with Bryce Huff
When Howie Roseman inked Huff to a three-year deal last offseason, the excitement was real. The 26-year-old was coming off a 10-sack season with the Jets and looked like the kind of ascending pass rusher who could make a serious impact in Philadelphia’s defensive front. But 2024 didn’t go according to plan. Huff missed five games with injuries and barely saw the field even when healthy — playing over 47% of the snaps in only three games. The writing was on the wall when he didn’t even dress for Super Bowl LIX.

Vic Fangio clearly didn’t see Huff as a fit in his scheme. That’s not a knock on Huff’s talent — it just means this wasn’t the right match. For a team like the Eagles that’s always managing the cap with one eye on the future, moving on from a misfire is often better than doubling down.
The Eagles don’t need expensive, miscast edge players eating snaps — they need contributors who fit the vision. With two additional draft picks in hand, Roseman has even more ammo to maneuver come draft time or as the season unfolds.
Bottom line: if this deal goes down, it’s not a sign the Eagles made a mistake — it’s a sign they know how to correct one.
