Brian Dawkins’ Mission: Changing lives through the Single Parent Families program
Brian Dawkins has always been known for his intensity, leadership, and unwavering heart on the football field. But years after retiring from the game, he’s channeling that same passion into a cause that changes lives. His Single Parent Families program, launched through the Brian Dawkins Impact Foundation, continues to make a profound difference in the lives of young people and their families.

Brian Dawkins created the Impact Foundation in 2019 with a mission to provide disadvantaged youth and families with the resources needed to overcome life’s toughest challenges. In 2022, he launched the Single Parent Families program, an initiative designed to support children growing up in single-parent homes by providing financial assistance and mentorship opportunities.
The goal is simple but powerful: to equip children with the physical, mental, and emotional tools to navigate life’s hardships and build a brighter future. For many, these grants offer the kind of hope and support that can change the trajectory of their lives.
Since its inception, the Single Parent Families program has awarded $160,000 in scholarship money to 175 youths from single-parent households. These grants, aimed at children between the ages of 5 and 18, help cover educational expenses, extracurricular activities, and essential needs.
Branon Gilmore, vice president of the Caring People Alliance, a nonprofit that operates three Boys and Girls Clubs in the city, has been instrumental in managing the program. According to Gilmore, the demand for assistance has skyrocketed. “When the word got out on social media, it went viral,” he shared with Inquirer Sports. What initially started with 50 to 60 applicants per cycle has now grown to nearly 500 during the most recent scholarship giveaway.

For Brian Dawkins, football was always more than just a game—it was a platform to inspire and uplift. His impact as a player was legendary, but his contributions off the field might be even more significant. This isn’t the first time Dawkins has given back. In 2009, he was honored with the Byron ‘Whizzer’ White Award, given annually to an NFL player who exemplifies dedication to community service.
His efforts today reflect the same determination that made him a Hall of Famer. Whether it was leading the Eagles’ defense with relentless energy or now leading a movement to support single-parent families, Dawkins remains committed to lifting others up.
Through the Single Parent Families program, he’s proving that his legacy isn’t just about football—it’s about making a lasting difference in people’s lives. And that might be his most meaningful accomplishment yet.
