Tank Commanders: Sixers continue March disaster-class with another miserable loss, this time to the Raptors

Another game, another lifeless L for the Sixers. This time it was a 127-109 loss to the Toronto Raptors — and look, we’re not going to pretend you watched it. Most rational people didn’t. But for those of us still clutching our red, white, and blue rosaries in late March, here’s what you missed: more bad basketball, a handful of silver linings, and a ticking clock to the NBA Draft Lottery.

The Sixers are now fully submerged in “get those ping pong balls” mode, and it’s starting to pay off — in the bizarro world kind of way. Thanks to a Hornets loss and a Raptors win, Philly is inching closer to potentially the fourth-best odds in the 2025 NBA Draft lottery. It’s hard to call anything a win these days, but that’s the most optimism you’re going to get around here.

Tank Commanders: The Sixers are ROLLING

The Sixers are a Broken Franchise

There’s no chemistry, no cohesion, no belief. The Sixers aren’t just tanking — they’re disintegrating in real time. Every missed rotation, every out-of-sync pass, every possession where three guys crash into each other trying to run a basic set… it all adds up to a team that has no clue what it’s supposed to be.

This was supposed to be the payoff season. The year the gap plan ended and things clicked. They got Paul George. They added veterans. They had cap space. Instead? They’re getting cooked by RJ Barrett, who at one point threw a shot over the backboard like he was trying to save it from going out of bounds.

We’re not even mad at the players anymore. These are dudes just trying to survive, to audition for the next contract, to get noticed in the chaos. The fault is up top — in the front office, in the organizational apathy that sold fans a dream and delivered… whatever this is.

About Last Night….

Adem Bona quietly put together another solid showing. Didn’t pick up his first foul until the third quarter, which is progress for a guy who plays like his controller’s stuck on turbo. He’s starting to look like an actual NBA rotation big — someone who can carve out a spot doing the dirty work, protecting the rim, and not immediately fouling out.

Lonnie Walker had one of his “remind them I can still hoop” nights. Smooth pull-ups, quick-footed drives, and even some playmaking sprinkled in. He’s a streaky scorer, but on nights like this, you understand why teams keep giving him chances. He played the Quentin Grimes role — aka, “guy who dribbles a lot because nobody else can” — and managed to not completely implode.

Justin Edwards laid a brick on both ends. After a nice stretch in March, he looked out of sync, lost on defense, and settled for poor shots. A bad night, but it happens. He still looks like a guy with a shot to be something down the line.

Ricky Council IV and Marcus Bagley? Not much to write home about. Bagley in particular just doesn’t look like an NBA player right now.

Jalen Hood-Schifino had a “looks decent on the box score” game but man, the sloppiness jumps off the screen. He’s got a nice pull-up game, and you can see flashes of a competent backup guard — but only if you squint hard enough to block out the turnovers and inability to create separation. He’s a two-way guy, and that feels right.

Only Seven Games Left…

There are seven games left in this miserable season. Seven more chances for the Sixers to limp across the finish line while fans hold out hope that the lottery balls bounce their way and the front office doesn’t screw up another draft pick.

Until then, it’s just more of this — a skeleton crew of misfit toys trying to manufacture meaning out of a completely meaningless stretch of basketball.

God help us.
