Colin Cowherd says he’s for banning Tush Push after praising it multiple times
I haven’t seen anyone flip flop on the Tush Push debate quite like Colin Cowherd has.
Don’t get me wrong—I think Cowherd is one of the best in the business, honestly. He does a great job keeping me engaged no matter what topic he’s covering. And because I watch him regularly, I couldn’t help but notice a trend: he’s incredibly inconsistent when it comes to his takes on the Tush Push.
One week he’s praising it, the next he wants it banned. To be fair, he is at least consistent in his reasoning—unlike the crybaby owners and coaches pushing to get rid of it. Cowherd just thinks it makes for bad TV. That’s a totally subjective take and hardly a valid reason to eliminate a play from the NFL. But that hasn’t always been his stance.
Back in 2023, he “respected the hell out of it.” His words, not mine.

Since then, he’s gone back and forth on the topic.
His most recent flip-flop is where I really want to focus. During this past season, Colin praised the Tush Push—calling it innovative and something no other team could replicate. It was pretty much the same praise he gave in the clip above. Fast forward to now, and suddenly he thinks it’s bad for the game and should be banned. Why? Simply because he doesn’t like it.
Shoutout to Julian W. of Lucas Sports on YouTube for putting this together. He’s great—definitely subscribe when you get the chance.

I love that Cowherd’s take on the Torpedo Bats was included here. How can you praise something like that and then do a complete 180 on the Tush Push? Doesn’t it follow the same line of reasoning?
Unfortunately, this is what the Tush Push debate has turned into—a bunch of people who think they get to decide what is and isn’t football. If the Jacksonville Jaguars had come up with the play, nobody would care. But because it was the Philadelphia Eagles, led by a head coach everyone thinks is a dumbass, suddenly it’s a national crisis. Get a grip.
Colin’s stance on the Tush Push isn’t just inconsistent—it’s downright fraudulent. If you think it’s bad television, change the channel, nerd.
