WATCH: Victor Robles hurt himself after making one of the most incredible catches you’ll ever see

Sunday afternoon in San Francisco gave us one of the most ridiculous highlights of the young MLB season — and one of the most painful. Seattle Mariners outfielder Victor Robles may have made the catch of the year, but he paid for it with more than just grass stains.

In the bottom of the ninth, with the game tied 4-4 and a runner on first, Giants catcher Patrick Bailey sliced a ball deep into the right field corner at Oracle Park. Robles took off full speed and made a spectacular grab just before slamming headfirst into the netting along the foul line.

No joke — he ran through the warning track and straight into the mesh like a cartoon character. His body folded on impact, and it was clear immediately that something was wrong. Despite the pain, Robles still had the presence of mind to shovel the ball to the cutoff man.

The runner, Luis Matos, tagged and advanced, and Robles exited moments later, holding his left wrist as he was helped off the field.

And then, of course, the gut punch. The very next pitch, Wilmer Flores walked it off for the Giants with an RBI single. Just like that — a jaw-dropping catch, a potential injury, and a walk-off loss. Baseball can be cruel like that.

For Victor Robles, who’s still trying to find his footing in Seattle after arriving from Washington in 2024, this was a moment that perfectly sums up the highs and lows of the sport. It was easily the best play of his Mariners tenure — maybe even of his entire post-Nationals career — but it ended with him off the field and his team with an ‘L.’

No word yet on the extent of Robles’ injury, but you have to hope it’s nothing too serious. Because for a guy whose career has seen its share of tough turns, it’d be a shame if this moment — as electric as it was — came with a heavy cost.

For now, let’s give Robles his flowers. You don’t see hustle plays like that every day. Just maybe next time, a little more padding around the netting?
