Eagles seen as potential landing spot for Saints’ big play wide receiver

But with uncertainty around Dallas Goedert’s future and Jahan Dotson settling in as more of a role player, it might not be the worst idea to bring in another dynamic pass-catcher — especially one who could stretch the field and make defenses think twice.

That’s where Rashid Shaheed comes into play.

Mike Greger of Philly Sports Network tossed out the idea that the Eagles could take a look at the New Orleans Saints wideout as a potential trade target. And honestly? It makes a ton of sense. Shaheed has been a spark plug since he entered the league in 2022, racking up touchdowns as a receiver, a runner, and even on special teams. When he’s healthy, he’s electric. It’s just been a matter of staying on the field.

Why this makes sense for the Eagles

Shaheed is playing on a one-year deal worth $5.2 million. That’s the exact kind of low-risk, high-reward contract Howie Roseman loves to mess around with. He’s not going to break the bank, and if it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t cost the Eagles anything long-term. If it does work out, you’ve got a lethal vertical threat and return specialist to slot into an already dangerous offense.

Greger floated the idea of Philly flipping a Day 3 pick to New Orleans in exchange for Shaheed — essentially a one-year rental with the option to re-sign him next offseason. It’s the kind of small move that could pay big dividends, especially if the Eagles end up moving on from Goedert or want to shake up the depth behind Brown and Smith.

Would the Saints actually move him?

That’s the big question. New Orleans has bigger fish to fry with their quarterback situation, and new head coach Kellen Moore might want to retool the system to fit his own vision. If Shaheed isn’t part of that plan, why not pick up a draft pick and move on?
