DraftKings ‘honors’ Jackie Robinson Day with bizarre 42% profit boost on MLB parlays

As it does every year, April 15th marks Jackie Robinson Day. MLB teams are celebrating Robinson’s legacy in the usual fashion, with players across the league donning the No. 42 in his honor. Not to be left out, DraftKings Sportsbook began a new tradition of its own for MLB bettors to get in on the action.

DraftKings chose to celebrate Jackie Robinson Day with a 42% profit boost on a 4+ leg parlay:

I’m not one to clutch my pearls, but what the hell am I looking at here? I don’t even know how someone comes up with this in the first place. I think I’m more jealous they thought of it first than anything else.

I don’t necessarily even have a problem with it (though maybe I kind of do?), I’m just fascinated by the concept of someone coming up with this idea and subsequently running this up the flagpole to get approved.

How many layers of approval did this have to go through? Did anyone express their hesitation about posting it? What job is this, and how can I have it?

Here are two I’ve put together for interested employers seeking semi-insensitive date-based bet promos:

• 9/11/2001 – Bet any MLB parlay and receive $9.11 in bonus bets, win or lose.
• 4/15/1989 – Tiananmen Square No Sweat Bet – Bet any CBA parlay of 4+ legs and we’ll make it illegal for people to know you lost (and return your stake).

I did text this to my inside source in the sports betting community, and his response showed that gamblers aren’t all that pressed about it. This guy in particular has bigger fish to fry.
