Eagles Buzz: All-Pro corner with ties to Vic Fangio is officially on the trade block
Eagles fans have been clamoring for a Jalen Ramsey acquisition for about five years now. And here we are again with an opportunity to snag this three-time All-Pro corner.
Tuesday morning, multiple NFL insiders reported that the Miami Dolphins and Ramsey have mutually agreed to seek a trade.
Would the Eagles actually make this move?
Ramsey is guaranteed a hefty $25 million in salary bonuses this season, so naturally, my first inclination is to say no, the Eagles probably won’t do this.
But, I could be talked into it, and I’m sure Howie Roseman could too.
For starters, the Eagles have shown interest in Ramsey every single time he’s hit free agency or the trade block. He’s an elite corner who can really do it all. Granted, he’s 30 years old now and coming off probably his worst season since his rookie campaign. He was still solid, starting every game for Miami and recording two interceptions and a sack.

If the Eagles were to entertain this, Miami would need to eat the majority of that guaranteed money. He just signed a three-year deal prior to the 2024 season, but it doesn’t kick in until 2026. This $25M is the last guaranteed money Ramsey has on his current deal. Theoretically, Philly could trade for Ramsey, have Miami eat the guaranteed cash, and move off from Ramsey before he’s due another large chunk of change.
That would probably be the best route.
Ramsey would slot right in as the CB2 opposite of Quinyon Mitchell and instantly give the Eagles the best cornerback room in the NFL, without question. Ramsey played under Vic Fangio as well in 2023, where he recorded three interceptions and earned a Pro Bowl nod, all while only playing in 10 games.
Is he the game changer he used to be? Not exactly, but he’s more than capable of handling CB2 duties and filling a hole in the Eagles secondary.
I’m willing to let Kelee Ringo, Adoree Jackson, and Eli Ricks scrap it out in training camp for the CB2 job. But I’d be elated to trade a Day 2 or 3 selection for Ramsey and not even have to worry about a camp competition.
With the NFL Draft next week, I’m sure we’ll get an answer on this Ramsey situation sooner rather than later.
