Wiley Ballard Braves Reporter Girls Number

Atlanta Braves ballpark reporter Wiley Ballard got a girl’s number on Live TV and the only thing offensive about it was how jealous everyone sounded on social media

Atlanta Braves sideline reporter Wiley Ballard found himself trending on social media Monday night and not because of some hot mic scandal or an accidental profanity.

Wiley Ballard had the audacity, at the request of the broadcast announcers, to ask for a girl’s number on live television. If that’s too much for you too handle, please look away and DO NOT watch the following clip that went crazy-viral on social media.

Social Media was DISGUSTED that Wiley Ballard got a girls number on the Braves broadcast

It’s the top of the fifth, and the Braves broadcast team is trying to liven things up with an in-game fan interview. Ballard walks up to two women in the stands. The interaction starts normal, even wholesome. Then the booth starts joking with him — “You’ve got four innings to get the number!”

Wiley Ballard delivered with confidence and swagger. He pulled out his phone, asks the question, and sure enough — digits secured. That’s a win in any setting and honestly, the fact that it was on television makes it Hall of Fame level content.

Because we live in a humorless, no-fun zone here in America where the only time you’re allowed to interact with women is on a dating app and NEVER in a public setting, when the clip went viral, half of social media decided that Wiley Ballard just committed a disgusting act of misogyny and that the broadcast was glorifying “this type of behavior” against women.

Wiley Ballard was buried by female media members and dudes who have zero game and thought this was the perfect opportunity to enter a discussion about women but what exactly are we mad at here?

Look, I really don’t have a dog in the fight. I’m happily married and met my wife of 1.5 years on a dating app so I clearly come from a different viewpoint than the miserable, alone, self-hating people that took issue with this on social media. She’s the love of my life so just save your comments about me personally “having game” – I already proved that I do and you’re wrong for thinking otherwise.

But seriously — did anyone look uncomfortable? Was anyone pressured? No. The woman was laughing, smiling, and she even took the phone and put her number in herself.

The whole thing lasted maybe a minute and ended with everyone in the booth cracking up. Harmless fun during a baseball game that—spoiler alert—is often desperate for entertainment between pitches.

The worst thing that could happen next is that the girl or Wiley Ballard himself not texting each other. That’s pretty much the end of it let’s not pretend this would’ve sparked the same conversation if the roles were reversed.

If a female reporter casually asked a guy for his number and he smiled and gave it to her on air? Twitter would be drooling. There’d be TikToks set to Taylor Swift songs about “queen energy” and “shooting your shot.”

Don’t be disingenuous.

The fact is, Wiley Ballard just has game, and a whole lot of people online clearly don’t. That’s where the outrage is really coming from. It’s a lot easier to tweet, “This is problematic!!” from your couch than it is to approach someone, risk rejection, and — gasp — land a number. Especially with a camera in your face.

And the best part? Wiley Ballard does not care.

He dropped a Matt Damon “How do you like them apples?” meme on X and went about his business. That’s elite-level confidence right there. The man isn’t just crushing his Braves coverage — he’s living rent-free in the heads of people who wouldn’t know how to talk to a stranger if ChatGPT wrote them a script.

So go ahead and keep typing your 600-word thinkpieces about the death of professionalism. Wiley Ballard will be over there winning on and off the field.

  1. OMG 😱
What did the police say after they were called!?
I certainly hope 🙏 they’re considering assault/stalking charges (at the very least!) to send a message?

      1. … you’ve got to alleviate such a nonsense response with humor in order to stay sane in how ridiculous this world has become, no?
