Eagles GM credits Big Dom for shaping a Super Bowl locker room
If you only know Big Dom for breaking up fights and getting booted from the sideline, you’re missing the entire point.
The Eagles aren’t just a Super Bowl contender every year because of what they do on the field. It’s because of what happens behind closed doors. And according to Howie Roseman, no one plays a bigger role in shaping that championship culture than Big Dom DiSandro.
Yes, the same guy who squared up with Dre Greenlaw and became a viral meme is also one of the most trusted voices in the Eagles’ front office. His official title might be senior advisor to the GM/chief security officer/gameday coaching operations, but his unofficial role? Culture cop.
“That starts with Dom,” Roseman said during a pre-draft presser. “I don’t think there’s any doubt that he’s the best in the National Football League, and in my opinion all of sports, at what he does.”
That’s not lip service. Big Dom is the first line of defense when the Eagles evaluate potential draft picks. Before Howie starts moving up or down the board, Dom’s already gathering intel. Not just stats and scouting reports — but who these guys really are. What drives them. Whether they fit in a locker room built on accountability, toughness, and winning.
Roseman made it clear the Eagles follow strict internal guidelines on who they will and won’t draft. And once the obvious red flags are cleared, the subjective stuff begins — and that’s where Big Dom shines.
“His ability to not only gather information but have a feel for people,” Roseman added. “We just have to make judgments. In those situations, those are a little more subjective, and that’s based on all the information we get.”
Translation: Big Dom has a sixth sense for bullshit
If you’re not about the right things, he’ll know.
He’s been doing it since 1999, long before most of the guys on the current roster were even born. And while fans see him as Nick Sirianni’s personal bodyguard on Sundays, inside the building, he’s a major reason the Eagles went from the Dream Team era to a real-deal Super Bowl squad.
Big Dom isn’t just part of the Eagles culture — he is the culture.
