Eagles Mock Draft: Howie trade up in first-round to land premier offensive weapon

The 2025 NFL Draft is just days away, and with it, we have our final Eagles mock drafts to get to.

The latest comes from NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Dave Zangaro, who has the Birds trading up in the first round. He projects a move to the 26th overall pick to grab Michigan tight end Colston Loveland.

Eagles trade up to get tight end in latest mock draft:

“Dallas Goedert is all but out of Philadelphia, and Grant Calcaterra ain’t it. The Birds trade No. 32 and No. 96 (3rd round) to the Rams and tab Loveland, a big-body volume pass catcher in the Zach Ertz, Brock Bowers mold. He can run any route on the tree, and very tough to bring down with the ball in his hands.”

This is a fun hypothetical, but I just don’t see Howie trading up to get a tight end — especially in the first-round. If the Eagles do pull off a trade to move up, I imagine it’ll be for a pass rusher.

I get that tight end becomes a real need if the Eagles move on from Goedert — but is it really worth trading up and giving away draft capital to get one? I don’t think so. There are plenty of solid tight end prospects in this class. And while Zangaro compares Loveland to guys like Ertz and Bowers, he’s just not on that level.

Drafting a tight end this year? Sure. Trading up for one? Probably not.
