Hook, who spent his college career alongside former first-round pick Mitchell, brings a polished résumé to Philadelphia with four All-MAC honors, over 350 career tackles, and a reputation for leadership and academic excellence. Despite missing the NFL Combine due to an injury suffered at the Senior Bowl, Hook impressed scouts with his downhill playstyle and versatility, even getting a few looks at linebacker during Senior Bowl practices.

While Hook faces an uphill battle to carve out a role in a deep Eagles secondary, his special teams ability, high football IQ, and physical presence make him a legitimate contender for a practice squad spot — and potentially more. The Eagles are already loaded at safety with Andrew Mukuba, Lewis Cine, Sydney Brown, and Reed Blankenship, but Hook’s instincts and effort could help him crack the rotation if injuries strike or if he flashes during training camp.

Long-term, Hook could be an ideal addition to the Eagles’ Exciting Whites tandem, featuring Cooper DeJean and Reed Blankenship. His style fits perfectly alongside DeJean’s dynamic ball skills and Blankenship’s physicality, giving Philadelphia another smart, aggressive defender who can thrive in multiple roles. If Hook continues the steady progression he showed throughout his college career, he could eventually become more than just a depth piece.

The odds may be long, but if there’s one thing Maxen Hook has proven, it’s that he’s not someone to bet against. His leadership, work ethic, and relentless approach to the game make him a name worth watching as the Eagles gear up for training camp.
