CJ Gardner-Johnson makes strong statement about missing White House visit

Former Eagles safety CJ Gardner-Johnson was one of a few players missing from the team’s White House visit on Monday. Some skipped out due to “scheduling conflicts,” but the outspoken defensive back went live on Instagram to make a principled stand and share what prevented him from attending:

CJ Gardner-Johnson said he was busy “getting fat at the crib” and also didn’t want to wear a suit:

I’ll be honest, if you clicked on this blog thinking CJ actually made a political statement about the White House visit, that’s entirely on you. This guy has never once stopped acting like a fool, which is a big part of why I loved him during his stints in Philly.

Also, doing this while enjoying a Chewy granola bar is elite ball knowledge. I don’t know how many of those I’ve consumed in my life, but I have a feeling I’d give CJ a run for his money.

I’ve gotta respect him nonstop munching throughout the video. He hot-swapped granola bars midway through like he was reloading during an intense firefight in Baghdad. There was no time to waste.

I will say I wish CJ Gardner-Johnson made the trip solely because he deserves the honor, but I totally get why he wouldn’t want to. What I don’t entirely get is what he means by “we football players, not basketball players,” but that’s on me.

Very real and legitimate journalist. I don't see a loss on the schedule.
