Sixers’ NBA Finals run is officially BACK after Paul George resumes podcast

Paul George is BACK.

It’s amazing how fast things change in this godforsaken town. About 24 hours ago, Sixers fans were pacing around like zombies, waiting for the NBA Lottery to rob us blind, fully prepared to lose that Top-6 protected pick to the Thunder and plunge into another offseason of existential dread.

For a moment there, it appeared to be the case until we stepped away from the ledge after ESPN wrongfully told Sixers fans on the broadcast that we would be losing our pick to OKC.

ESPN had 76ers fans ready to lose it after NBA Draft Lottery screw up

False alarm. Instead, the Philadelphia 76ers were handed the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft and now everyone on social media is coming out with opinions on who the Sixers should and shouldn’t draft like they have any clue what they are talking about.

At the very least, they are talking, which is a major improvement over the cloud of dread that hung over the Sixers fanbase for the entirety of the 2024-25 season.

What a difference a day makes.

Now, the Sixers are picking No. 3 overall and all things considered, that appears to be Rutgers forward Ace Bailey.

Who’s in play for the Sixers at pick #3 after just missing out on Cooper Flagg during the NBA Draft Lottery

We can dive into more on Bailey later, but the biggest news of the day is that Paul George has officially dusted off the mic and brought back his podcast.

That’s right…Paul George, also known as Podcast P, is BACK

That’s right, Podcast P is BACK and with him comes the Sixers’ inevitable 2026 NBA title run.

Let’s rewind for a second.

Back on February 26th, the vibes were downright rancid. Paul George—who heroically shut down his podcast to “focus on the championship”—did so while the team was barely above water, dealing with injuries, bad body language, and all the self-awareness of a traffic cone.

Now, on May 13th, Paul George finally reactivated the pod, explaining that he was hurt, frustrated, and basically not in a space to be jolly.

Cool, man. Now we’re all jolly and happy and even more thrilled to back as legitimate “contenders” in the chase for an NBA Finals win. Right everyone? RIGHT?!

May 13th: Mark It Down

Let the record show—May 13th, 2025 is the official pivot point of the Sixers’ next great run.
From dread to euphoria in less than a day. It’s almost poetic.

Quick Note on Ace Bailey, courtesy of a previous Podcast P episode

A few months ago, Paul George was behind the microphone saying that he would rather draft Ace Bailey over Cooper Flagg with the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft.

That’s…interesting.

Again, jump into Ace Bailey and whether or not the Sixers are setting themselves up for failure some other time but at the very least, Podcast P loves the kid and he will be available at No. 3.

What the Sixers and Daryl Morey will do is anyone’s guess but something worth monitoring. All that matters is that this fanbase has Podcast P back in the studio, Ace Bailey highlights playing on loop, and all of the sudden, we have gone from doomsday to parade planning overnight.

Note: For those who will inevitably think I’m serious about Podcast P and the Sixers becoming contenders, I promise you, that’s not the case. Read the room.
