Eagles Chris Olave

Eagles listed as potential suitor for Pro Bowl WR3

It’s that time of year again. The Eagles are coming off a Super Bowl win, there’s no training camp drama (yet), and outside of a few Instagram workout clips, there’s not much going on. So naturally, we get offseason fantasy trades. This week’s episode? Chris Olave to the Eagles.

Sure. And while we’re at it, let’s grab Justin Jefferson for WR4 and convince Randy Moss to unretire for special teams.

This comes from Yahoo! Sports, who floated this “murky” trade idea. Obviously, it’s not going to happen, but let’s dive into it anyway. Because why not.

Eagles Already Have the Firepower

AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith are one of the best receiver duos in the NFL, and they put up nearly 2,000 yards last year in an offense that was supposedly “run-heavy.”

Add in Saquon Barkley, who’s about to get 25-30 touches a game, and this offense is just fine. Could they use a reliable WR3? Sure. But Chris Olave isn’t some undervalued free agent sitting on the waiver wire. He’s a former first-round pick, he’s 24, and he’s logged back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons.

If the Saints are dumb enough to trade him, it won’t be cheap. And it definitely won’t be to a team that just embarrassed the AFC’s best in the Super Bowl.

Eagles Don’t Need to Overpay for a WR3

The idea behind this rumor seems to be: Hey, the Saints are a mess, and the Eagles like to win trades — maybe they’ll poach a star for fun. But even Howie Roseman isn’t throwing draft capital and cap space at a WR3 when there are still question marks on defense and long-term contracts to handle.

And let’s be honest: if the Eagles did trade for Olave, the headline wouldn’t be “Super Bowl Champs Get Another Weapon.” It’d be “Philly GM Bullies New Orleans Again,” and we’d never hear the end of it.

Offseason Brain Rot Is Setting In

This is just what happens when there’s nothing to talk about. May is for photoshopped jerseys, fake trade proposals, and people trying to manifest things on Twitter that would never happen in real life.

The Eagles aren’t trading for Chris Olave. The Saints aren’t giving him up. But we’ve got at least six more weeks of boredom before anything real happens, so get ready for more of this nonsense.

Next week: “Should the Eagles bring Nick Foles back as QB3?”

Stay hydrated.
