Kyle Schwarber On Base Streak

Kyle Schwarber’s on-base streak ends at 47 games

Well, it had to end at some point, I guess. Kyle Schwarber’s ridiculous on-base streak finally hit a wall at 47 games—stretching all the way back to September of last season.

The Phillies still took care of business in Game 1 of Tuesday’s doubleheader, beating the red-hot Cardinals 2-1 in a classic pitcher’s duel.

Bryce Harper delivers, Phillies snap Cardinals’ 9-game streak in Game 1 of doubleheader

Schwarber went 0-for-4 in the early game, popping out, lining out, and grounding out twice. On a cold, wet, and windy day at The Bank (61 degrees at first pitch), it was pretty much the kind of day you’d expect to trip up a guy who’s notorious for heating up once the weather does.

Kyle Schwarber’s streak was historic.

  • Fourth-longest on-base streak in Phillies modern history (since 1900).
  • Longest in MLB since Tommy Pham’s 48-gamer back in 2018-19.

Here’s where Schwarber’s streak lands in the Phillies’ all-time books:

Kyle Schwarber right back at it in Game 2 loss..

If Game 1 was a pitcher’s duel, Game 2 was a beer league slugfest—and the Phillies didn’t have enough firepower to get the job done.

Aaron Nola got absolutely torched, giving up 12 hits and 9 runs in just 3.2 innings, including bombs from Alec Burleson, Lars Nootbaar, and Masyn Winn. It was the worst outing of his 11-year career, and it looked every bit like it.

The Phillies actually jumped out to a 5-1 lead after Nick Castellanos’ two-run double and J.T. Realmuto’s two-run homer in the first inning. Alec Bohm and Kyle Schwarber even added solo shots. That all went out the window when the Cardinals exploded for five in the third and three more in the fourth, turning a party into a funeral.

Phillies split sloppy doubleheader with Cardinals: Schwarber’s streak ends and a glaring Aaron Nola problem

Kyle Schwarber is leading the NL in home runs with 15 bombs and is tied with Aaron Judge for the most in Major League Baseball. He’s played in every one of the Phillies’ 44 games this season, right alongside Bryce Harper and Nick Castellanos.

Up Next For The Phillies: Back at it Friday at The Bank against the Pirates. Ranger Suarez vs. Andrew Heaney. Flush Game 2, regroup, and hope Nola finds himself before the wheels fully come off.
